What’s On

There is always so much going on in Cantabria, events, concerts, markets, gastronomy, dance, exhibitions, fiestas, sports, special events, the lot.  Previously on this section of the site was a Google events calendar, which was regularly updated.  There is now SO much going on in Cantabria that it is impossible for one little person to keep this going efficiently and thoroughly, so this has disappeared.  However, below are the links to sites and Facebook pages which I was using to find out my information for the calendar, and which are updated very regularly.  Check out the MarketsArt Galleries and Exhibitions, and Fiestas of National Tourist Interest sections for links in those areas.

Facebook Pages

Eventos En Cantabria – excellent group where members post information on all types of events, courses, workshops and more around the region, and there is sometimes a weekly round up of events for the coming weekend

MOMUCA – another excellent group, this time solely for concerts around Cantabria

Other Sites

Fundacion Santander Creativa – great site with a very good Agenda section, in English!  Only for Santander

Cantabria Infinita – Eventos – the official Cantabria tourist board site also has an agenda for the whole of Cantabria

El Diario Montanes – one of the local newspapers’ agenda section

Mi Plan Hoy – a great new site dedicated to Cantabria with an events calendar, local fiestas, children’s activities, gastronomy, art and culture, sports and concerts

La Guia Go! – another great site for concerts all around the region, you’ll see their little free booklets scattered around bars and restaurants, pick one up if you can, they’re fantastic

Coolturama – another new and very easy to navigate site, even if you don’t speak a word of Spanish!  It’s basically an events calendar for Cantabria made up of concert posters, so just the important info you need to know

Venues

There are many many venues all over Cantabria, many bars hold impromptu concerts, especially over the summer months.  I suggest using the Facebook pages above to see what’s on where you are, but here are some venues which have weekly (or very regular) concerts and other events throughout the year.

Palacio de Deportes (Calle Alcalde Vega Lamera) – this huge tear drop shaped silver building is home to many sports events, touring shows and touring concerts throughout the year.  It does not have its own website, however concerts will be well advertised, well in advance as they are often big name acts (Cirque du Soleil, Bruce Springsteen, Extremoduro) – ticketed, online booking

There are of course hundreds more fantastic venues around the region, including local theatres, churches, Casa Cultura, and more, PLUS the massive amount of festivals, fiestas and special events constantly happening, for these I suggest the Facebook pages above, and checking out the town hall (ayuntamiento) website of the place you’re interested in.

I shall be adding to this page in the future…keep an eye out!
