Golf is a popular sport in Cantabria – birthplace of course to Seve Ballesteros – and there are many courses around the region to enjoy, some with spectacular views to boot.
Real Golf de Pedreña – consisting of an 18 hole course and a 9 hole course, the former designed by Harry S. Colt and the latter designed by Seve Ballesteros. It is located in Ballesteros’ seaside hometown of Pedreña, across the bay from Santander, and is accessible by passenger ferry from Santander.
Golf Santa Marina – located between Comillas and San Vicente de la Barquera in La Revilla, this course was also designed by Seve Ballesteros.
Golf Nestares – one of two local courses managed by Cantur (the Cantabrian government), in Nestares, near Reinosa and surrounded by snow topped mountains.
Golf Abra de Pas – beautifully located on a promontory in the Pas river estuary near Mogro and the second of Cantur’s courses. Intended expansion to 18 holes.
Real Golf Club Oyambre – beautifully (but controversially) located in the dunes of the Oyambre Natural Park between Comillas and San Vicente de la Barquera.
Club de Golf Mataleñas – located on the Cabo Menor peninsula in Santander with fantastic seaviews in all directions.
Campo Municipal de Golf La Junquera – located on the shore of Santander bay in Pedreña, with views across to Santander.
Ramón Sota Club de Golf – located in Argüero.
Campo de Golf Rovacias – located in Comillas.
Campo de Golf Villa de Noja – located in the centre of Noja.
Club Parayas – part of a larger leisure and sports complex, located in the Parayas area of Santander (near the airport).
